Jesus Reconstructed

A Modern Retelling of the Gospels

Rick Davy James, PhD

There is, among recent generations, a movement to “deconstruct” the Christian worldview bequeathed to them by family, friends, and culture.  This presents a difficult prospect, as one cannot reason themself out of what they didn’t reason themself into. And many of us have acquired our worldview by default. Removing the “Christian” from Christian principles sounds simple enough, but how do you do this without bringing your whole sense-making structure crashing down like a game of Jenga? It’s a question many are wrestling with, and what few have considered is the prospect of reconstruction. Maybe what needs deconstructing is an unexamined faith. Maybe faith can be rebuilt into something substantive and real, based on a more contemporary, more factual, and more biblical understanding of the Gospels. Maybe Jesus can be reconstructed.
